Mr Muddle was very confused. He got everything totally, utterly, completely muddled! For instance, when Mr Muddle had breakfast, he spread the butter on the table, and then spread the jam on the plate, and then poured the milk on the bread, filled the cup with sugar and poured the tea on the bread!
On day, Mr Muddle went fishing with George the fisherman. George asked Mr Muddle to help him push the boat out from the beach so Mr Muddle pulled the boat further up on to the beach. Once they eventually managed to get the boat out to sea George said to Mr Muddle “Now let’s fish”. Instead of dropping his fishing line over the side of the boat Mr Muddle dropped himself over the side of the boat!
Mr Muddle got everything wrong. George thought of a solution and smiled to himself. George wanted Mr Muddle to help him pull the boat up on to the beach so he asked him to help push the boat into the sea. Mr Muddle pulled the boat on to the beach which is exactly what George wanted him to do. George smiled a smile and went to tell everybody.
The next day Mr Muddle got everything right! For instance, Mr Brick asked Mr Muddle to hold his coat for him and he held his ladder which is what Mr Brick really wanted. The same thing happened with Mrs Scrub and Mr Black!
