What was wrong with Mr Bounce?
Mr. Bounce is very small and acted like a rubber ball. He kept on bouncing all over the place and could not stay on the ground.
One day, Mr. Bounce walked past a tennis court and tripped. After he tripped, he started bouncing and landed on the tennis court where two children were playing tennis. The children thought that Mr. Bounce was ball and started playing tennis while hitting him with their rackets. By the end of the game Mr. Bounce was bruised all over.
How was Mr Bounce’s problem solved?
Mr. Bounce decided to go and visit the doctor. He didn’t enter the door as most people do but rather bounced in through the doctor’s window and landing in his cup of coffee!
Dr. Makeyouwell, the doctor, gave Mr. Bounce a pair of boots to wear. The boots were so heavy that they kept Mr. Bounce on the ground enabling him to walk without bouncing!
What was the problem?
Mr Bounce went to sleep with his boots on. When he woke up and got out of bed he fell through the floorboards in his bedroom and landed in the kitchen!
The moral of the story
The solution to one problem can cause a different problem!
Can you think of a solution to this new problem?
Encourage children to discuss the problem and think of possible solutions. For example, Mr Bounce can take off his boots before he goes to sleep and then use a heavy blanket which will stop him from bouncing from his bed. Can you think of other solutions to help Mr Bounce?
